In Spring 2024, the British Mountaineering Council commissioned me to create a video piece about littering, in tandem with Tidy Climbers.
I commissioned the talented Carlos Casas, whose writing has always moved me and put complex feelings I've held into tangible sentences, to write some spoken word about caring for our green spaces, our connection to these places, and picking up litter.
The words Carlos wrote were a beautiful way to explore this topic, and building imagery based on his writing was incredibly fun and satisfying.
We were joined by Hannah Mitchell, who founded Tidy Climbers to encourage climbers to clean up and take care of their local crags. She even made these very cute bags out of broken tents - so your rucksack doesn't have to get smelly when you litter pick!
It was an honour to work with such talented people for a good cause.
Every summer, our outdoor spaces become busy, and it's important to remember that taking care of these spaces is a collective effort - we shouldn't expect others to clean up after us.
